Many international celebrities have recently tweeted and extended their support to the farmers of India protesting against the new farm laws. American actress Amanda Cerny who is often touted as a lookalike of Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez and former adult film actress Mia Khalifa were also among those few international celebs who have voiced their support for the farmers’ cause on Twitter. Recently, the duo took to their respective Twitter handles and mocked the netizens who are accusing these celebs of taking money in return for their tweets on farmers’ protest in India. Mia Khalifa shared a screengrab that shows the transfer of 100 dollars between her and Amanda Cerny and wrote, ‘And just like that, two girls have dismantled the world’s largest economy and government, one tweet at a time @AmandaCerny #forthefarmers’. To this, Amanda Cerny quipped, ‘Thanks for paying me first! My Apple Pay wallet was empty’ with a couple of laughing emojis. Well, it started with Mia Khalifa’s tweet after getting accused of taking money from Sikh separatists to support Indian farmers. The tweet of her reads, ‘Wouldn’t we have to hashtag #ad’ if we were paid by the Indian government, @AmandaCerny? Or am I missing a new SEC rule that excludes us?’ to which Amanda Cerny responded saying, ‘This is all such a tease. I have so many questions… Who is paying me? How much am I getting paid? Where do I send my invoice? When will I get paid? I’ve tweeted a lot.. do I get paid extra??!??#lwantThisToBeAnAd’. Notably, after Rihanna’s tweet, Amanda Cerny who enjoys a massive fan following on social media took to her Instagram handle a few days back and shared a monochrome picture of women farmers and captioned it ‘The world is watching. You don’t have to be Indian or Punjabi or South Asian to understand the issue. All you have to do is care about humanity. Always demand freedom of speech, freedom of press, basic human and civil rights-equity and dignity for workers. #FarmersProtest #internetshutdown’.
